Alexis + Mark are the owners and resident innkeepers here at Grayhaven Motel. Locked out at 3am? One of us will shuffle over in our slippers to let you back in 🙂 We feel lucky to have the opportunity to preserve and nurture such a nice property and look forward to seeing you around.
Mark is a master of adaptive reuse and restoration. When he’s not designing, building or repairing something for Grayhaven or Cortright, he’s scouring auction sites for the next best piece of Grayhaven equipment or teaching local college students in new media arts. Mark’s secret power is that he’s the best bed maker on this side of the Mississippi. He would rather be at a King Gizzard concert.
Alexis steers the ship. She has an unwavering focus and patience for preservation and rehabilitation, and a genuine love and passion for creating a special space for visitors and guests. You’ll mostly see her at the front desk, but sometimes also cleaning a room, pulling a weed, or repairing something. That care you feel in all of the small details at the motel? That’s what she lives for.

Jessica is the assistant innkeeper at Grayhaven, and helps direct the daily operations of this charming historic motel. She witnessed Grayhaven in our early days of rehabilitation and luckily wasn’t scared away! Jess is a Finger Lakes native, loves the outdoors, and (secretly?) teaches yoga. Her calm, kind and fun nature makes her the perfect guide for your relaxing getaway, family reunion, or group retreat. We are grateful to have her steady hands at the helm, keeping things running smoothly while reminding us it’s also ok to have a good time.
Kenzie is a recent graduate of Elmira College, and brought all of the spunky energy to Grayhaven that we didn’t know we needed. She leads the housekeeping team with impressive organization and ease, overseeing the cleanliness and maintenance of all guest rooms and common areas at Grayhaven. Kenzie is intuitive, has an eye for detail, and knows how to keep things running smoothly. We are grateful to have her on board!

Kathleen + Elspeth are our evening front desk hosts. Their commitment to friendly, professional service and warm hospitality, ensures all our guests have a smooth and welcoming stay. Their friendly demeanor and attention to detail help ensure a comfortable and excellent experience for our guests..
Team work makes the dream work, and we wouldn’t have accomplished nearly as much without the ongoing support of our family and friends. MaryLouise is Alexis’ mom. She keeps the back of house inline, can always be counted on to bring in a delectable homemade baked good, and can fold a duvet like nobody’s business. We wouldn’t make it through the year without her.

Laika the wonder dog watches over Grayhaven and often accompanies our crew on various tasks around the property. Laika prefers people to other pups, and hiking over the beach vacations. If you see her riding in the golf cart, come over to say hi – she is a very good dog!
