They have a fantastic summer season of public tours lined up this year, including the lovely Night Sky Cruise (bring cozy clothes). You can even enjoy a cruise directly off the Ithaca Farmer’s Market dock! Planning a family or group getaway? They also book private charter trips. |If you’re looking for a fun weekend away, any weekend is a good one to visit the Finger Lakes. Here are our sunny July suggestions.|
Recommended itinerary for July 14th – 16th:
FRIDAY: Begin in the guest lounge at Grayhaven to view Nate Cowles photographs, then move on to Golden Hour Concert Series: Dirty Gems at South Hill Cider, 550 Sandbank Rd (just up the way from us!)…Or do as the locals do and head downtown to The Commons for a hearty dinner at a favorite, Viva Taqueria + Cantina (also available to order for pickup).
SATURDAY: Start the day in our office with tasty coffee from Maquina Coffee Roasters and a light breakfast to get you started for the day. If you aren’t here for the class, head to the Ithaca Farmer’s Market for a seriously delightful market experience; you can even take a lake cruise from the dock! Take advantage of your cute Grayhaven room and take a midday nap. Catch an early evening movie at Cinemapolis, or maybe gear up to have a fancy dinner at Gola Osteria (reservations suggested).
SUNDAY: Drink coffee and read the Sunday NYTimes in the lounge with Nick Cowles’ photographs. If you’re not in the carpentry class, check out at 11am and head to brunch at Allechant on your way out of town. If you are staying over, see what CU’s Johnson Museum – they are celebrating their 50yr anniversary this year! Exhibition of note through July: Storywork: Prints of Marie Watt. A member of the Seneca Nation, her stories draw from Native and non-Native traditions. Highly recommend!
MONDAY: Yay! You made it! Enjoy coffee in the lounge before heading to Ithaca Bakery or Coalyard Cafe on your way outta dodge. And if you have any extra time, weekdays are best for exploring our parks sans the crowds!

THURSDAY: Its Grassroots weekend! If you don’t wish to dedicate your weekend to that festival, here are some other ideas…
FRIDAY: If you are already here, join others for a Mindful Botany Walk at the Cornell Botanical Gardens from 12-1pm. Otherwise, check in and enjoy some chill time before your reservation at Maxie’s Supper Club + Oyster Bar. Afterwards, head to our beloved independent cinema, Cinemapolis, for an evening film. They’ve recently begun running mainstream movies, as well, so there should be something for everyone here!
SATURDAY: Traveling with kids? Beat the heat and head to the close-by Hangar Theater for their famous KiddStuff summer program of plays + musicals. It isn’t an Ithaca visit without sandwiches from Shortstop Deli and some of the best ice cream you’ll ever have from Sweet Melissa’s! They are both in one building 3.5mi from Grayhaven’s door.
SUNDAY: Check out and enjoy breakfast at Mix Ithaca. Before you leave town, don’t miss the Cayuga Nature Center‘s Animal Ambassador Encounters – a family-friendly learning experience from 12-12:30. Get there earlier to hike their trails and discover other fun Nature Center offerings.
MONDAY: Attn women-identified peoples! Bone up on diy projects with Hammerstone School of Carpentry for Women‘s Basic Carpentry Skills 101 from 9a – 5p. This fantastic organization offers a sliding scale tuition, so if you are curious, check it out!
