As the heat of summer turns to crisper air, we are excited for the leaves to change and to share new motel events with you. September has a LOT to offer; read and see what this month has in store for Grayhaven and your Ithaca visit.

When planning your October visit be sure not to miss Grayhaven’s annual pumpkin carving event! Enjoy s’mores and cider as you carve pumpkins on our patio. Stay for the family-friendly fall/Halloween-themed movie we project onto the side of Carriage House as the sun goes down.

Go for genre-defying noise + hard-rocking dance music, stay for the technicolor puppet show! Friday, Sept 15th: VHS movie night at Grayhaven! Join us for a movie on the patio or lounge. Saturday, Sept 23rd: Old Crow Medicine Show returns to Ithaca at The State Theater! A Two-time Grammy Award winning American Roots band; classic Ithaca love. Doors @7, show @8pm. Hit it up after the Johnson Museum’s anniversary party 😉 Saturday, Sept 23rd: Visit The Johnson Museum from 1-4pm for their 50th anniversary open house! This celebration of art and community will be exhibited throughout the museum. Friday, Sept 29th: Kickoff of Ithaca’s annual Apple Harvest Festival downtown on and around The Commons! If you’re looking for a fun weekend away, any weekend is a good one to visit the Finger Lakes. Here are our September suggestions...

Recommended itinerary for September 6th – 9th:

WEDNESDAY: Check in, grab a bite and join us in our guest lounge for the Dan Melchior and the Depth Boys show at 8pm (doors at 7)!

THURSDAY: Start the day in our office for coffee hours before heading to nearby Treman State Park for a hike (+ a swim if its a hot one). Its a treat to get to the parks during the week when they’re more empty! We suggest lunch at Lev Kitchen and a gentle stroll around The Commons, then a nap in your Grayhaven room before the Magnetic Coroner show in our lounge at 7pm. Grab some slices from Pizza Aroma to sustain you through the sound!

FRIDAY: Take in the morning birdsong on our patio with coffee and local yogurt + granola before heading to The Johnson Museum before winding down your trip with a leisurely Night Sky Cruise with Discover Cayuga Lake boat cruises.

SATURDAY: Relax in the lounge with coffee and the newspaper before heading outta Dodge. Don’t forget to drop your key with us or in the black box key drop at the office door!

Recommended itinerary for September 29th – October 1st:

FRIDAY: Check in and enjoy some chill time before you head out to Apple Harvest Festival downtown on and surrounding The Ithaca Commons. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to fill your belly and check off your holiday checklist while celebrating our area’s seasonal glory: the apple! What a way to kick off NY Cider Week.

SATURDAY: After brunch at Cafe DeWitt, head back out to Apple Fest! Or – take a break from the crowd and hop over to our amazing Sciencecenter (fun for all ages) to explore and inspire! Stay to play the mini golf they offer.

SUNDAY: Bring your fantastic coffee and light breakfast from our office to the patio to take in the glorious morning peace. Before you leave town, hit up the famous Ithaca Farmer’s Market to bring home some Finger Lakes goodies 🙂
